Child Safety Standards
LAST UPDATED
Siremo Inc. (the “Company”) is committed to protecting children in “Flare,” the photo-sharing service operated by the Company.
Flare has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (“CSAE”) and child sexual abuse material (“CSAM”).
For these standards, “child” means any person under 18 years of age and any other person protected as a child under applicable law.
The definition of a “child” in these standards is separate from the minimum registration age specified in the Flare Terms of Service. A person under 18 remains protected as a child under these standards even if they are eligible to register for Flare.
1. Scope
These standards apply to every user of Flare and to photos, display names, Roll names, profile information, and any other user content captured, transmitted, stored, or shared through Flare.
Flare Rolls are designed for sharing photos among invited members. These standards apply even when content is shared with a limited group.
2. Prohibited content and conduct
Flare prohibits the following content and conduct:
- Capturing, creating, uploading, storing, transmitting, sharing, distributing, selling, exchanging, or soliciting CSAM
- Content that sexualizes children or facilitates the sexual exploitation of children
- Building trust with or contacting a child for a sexual purpose, including requesting images or contact (“grooming”)
- Threatening or blackmailing a child using sexual images to demand additional images, sexual activity, money, or anything else of value (“sextortion”)
- Recruiting, facilitating, trafficking, or transporting a child for sexual exploitation
- Praising, encouraging, instructing, facilitating, or promoting CSAE or CSAM
- Attempting, assisting, or evading enforcement of any conduct listed above
- Any other conduct that sexually abuses, exploits, or endangers a child
These prohibitions may apply to illustrations, altered or composite images, computer-generated images, and other depictions, as well as content depicting real children, when the content violates applicable law or these standards.
3. Reporting in Flare
Users can select “Report” from the menu for a photo or user in the Flare app.
A report sends the reported photo or user, the selected reason, and any optional details to the Company. For concerns involving the sexual abuse or exploitation of a child, select the sexual-content reason and describe the circumstances in the details field.
If in-app reporting is unavailable, contact Flare Support or flare-support@siremo.co.jp.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact local law enforcement or emergency services immediately in addition to reporting the matter to Flare.
4. How we respond
When the Company receives a report concerning CSAE or CSAM, it promptly reviews the report and relevant information.
If the Company confirms a violation of these standards or determines that action is necessary to protect a child, it may take measures appropriate to the circumstances, including:
- Disabling access to, isolating, or removing the content
- Restricting access to the relevant Roll or Flare features
- Warning, suspending, or terminating the responsible user's account
- Taking technical or operational steps to prevent recurrence
- Preserving evidence as required by law
- Reporting or providing information to law enforcement or other appropriate authorities
To protect victims, privacy, the safety of an investigation, or action by law enforcement, the Company may not disclose details of its investigation or response to the reporting user.
5. Compliance and cooperation with authorities
The Company complies with applicable laws concerning child safety, child sexual abuse, exploitation, and CSAM.
When the Company confirms CSAM or a danger to a child, it makes any required reports, provides information, and preserves evidence in accordance with applicable law and instructions from the appropriate authorities.
6. Handling report information
The Company handles reports and relevant user content only as necessary to investigate reports, enforce these standards, prevent harm, comply with law, and cooperate with the appropriate authorities.
For more information, see the Flare Privacy Policy.
